Figure Study - Youth and Age

FORMS AND EXPRESSION

Youthful forms can be challenging; the body is round and smooth, and there are less lines to inference space. As we age, the body becomes more angular and wrinkled. Both types of bodies create their own expression of life and vitality.

As we grow, we change. Life imprints experiences on our body as well as the mind. In the subtle framing of the face, the muscles that have been used for years become accented with the expressions of their daily lives. A resting face can speak a lot about the person behind those eyes.

The body, similarly, can reflect someone's life in their posture, their frame, how they hold their hands and where their eyes gaze. Studying the human figure becomes a psychological portrait as much as one of their physical disposition.
